The mission of the Beatrice Thomas Gumbs Foundation is to improve the health and welfare of human beings through education. The underlying strategy is to use food as medicine to prevent chronic disease by focusing on organic agriculture, combined with changes in diet and lifestyle. The tactical approach is to start with a small population and develop and refine a model which can be replicated in other populations. The ultimate goal is to reduce infant mortality and increase life expectancy.
